Thieng Lieng Cooperative

As Blue Water Shipping colleagues in Ho Chi Minh celebrated their 10th anniversary, the Blue Water Foundation earmarked DKK 10,000 to support the Thieng Lieng community-based tourism cooperative, chosen by the team. This cooperative's mission is vital: to elevate the quality of life for the island's inhabitants.

Community-based tourism, a sustainable approach, involves travelers being welcomed into local homes, fostering direct connections with communities. This benefits local residents, often in rural and economically marginalized areas, who earn income as land managers, entrepreneurs, and service providers. 

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Bach Tuyet, the director of the Thieng Lieng community-based tourism cooperative, expresses gratitude for the valuable donation: "This contribution holds immense meaning for cooperative members, especially those facing challenging family circumstances. It will enhance kitchen equipment for the community-based tourism project, creating more income opportunities for underprivileged women and indirectly impacting the educational future of their children."

The funds will support the purchase of kitchen utensils, tables, and chairs, aiding tourism and providing training to develop local cultural tourism products and services.
